Trudy Maria Quinn

I always see Trudy with a smile on her face. She was a young-at-heart, fun-loving friend to our family. I remember barreling down the I-84 Freeway in her Pontiac station wagon at about 85 to 90 mph… on our way to one swimming hole or another. She was fearless! What fun for teenage kids! Trudy possessed a remarkable eye for fashion. She knew which styles, colors, and types of fabrics worked together to create a picture of sophisticated beauty. Trudy sold me her precious 1965 Ford Mustang, my FIRST vehicle...with "3 on the floor." And I was able to purchase it for a fair, " family price." I drove that Mustang for 12 years and thanked her every day. I most cherish the happy evenings that she and her mother spent in the company of my parents in animated Gin Rummy Card games, playing for pennies and nickels. A "25 cent night" was a good night. The participants raised a glass to life-and to one another- in memory of their precious Austria! I'm certain the games continue.

There are many memories of Trudy and our families. Parents playing cards, spending Holidays together, trips along the Columbia River, up to Mt. Hood, and camping at Rock Creek Resevoir by Mt. Hood. Trudy also was my translator for letters I recieved from Austria. She would help me read them if I got stuck. I will always remember her words: "Holy Toledo" . She will be missed.
