Phyllis Roberta Lovett Mazer passed away peacefully on February 28 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Phyllis was born and raised in New York City, the eldest child of Helen and Martin Lovett, and also lived in Raleigh, North Carolina; St. Petersburg, Florida; and Portland, Oregon. Phyllis touched many lives during her career with arts, science, and health care non-profits, setting an example of public service for her family and all who knew her. She was also an adventurer—she dug for dinosaur bones, climbed glaciers, and, along with her husband Lawrence, developed a love of open-water sailing. Above all, she was the rock of her beloved family. She lives on in the memories of Lawrence; her brother, Ronald Lovett; her son Erick and his partner Rachel; her son Zack and his partner Alissa; and her many other family members and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, March 1 at Havurah Shalom at 825 NW 18th St. Portland at 1:00 p.m. The family will be receiving guests at 1310 NW Naito Parkway, Unit 905 beginning at 4:00 p.m. also on March 1.
Contributions in Phyllis Mazer’s memory may be made to Planned Parenthood.
