Matthew Joseph Miller

Matthew Joseph Miller of Portland, Oregon, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. He was 36. Our beloved son, Matt, was born on September 23, 1986, in Portland, attended schools in Gresham, then moved with his family to Colorado where he graduated from Longmont High School. Matt continued his higher education at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley before he began what would be a long career at Best Buy in four different states. As a sales manager, Matt was an exceptional employee and mentor for others. His professionalism and infectious personality made him approachable and of service to his customers, including some who came from out-of-state just so they could see him. Matt had a direct but delicate way of showing he cared that made everyone feel valued and heard. He made lifelong connections with people and was always ready to help anyone who needed it.

Matt enjoyed snowboarding, favoring the runs at Timberline Lodge for their beauty and tranquility. Winter trips there became a father-son tradition. Above all recreational pastimes, he loved camping and boating. He found solace on the water, spending countless hours with family and friends zipping around Oregon’s lakes and rivers.

Matt was an unselfish soul and he loved his family dearly. We all loved him just as much and will miss him even more.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Cindy and Steve Miller, his brother Christopher, his sister Courtney, and grandmother Barbara Miller. There will be a Memorial Service at Holman’s on 2610 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214 on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Matt’s name to Portland Providence Hospital and/or Providence Hospice.
