Mark Andrew Thorsfeldt Sr.

July 2, 1957 - May 16, 2022

Mark Andrew Thorsfeldt Sr., 64 of Amboy, Washington passed Monday, May 16, 2022. He was born July 2, 1957 in Portland, Oregon, the son of Harriet and Earl Thorsfeldt. He looked up to his older brother Mike and enjoyed being the older brother to his younger sister Julie and brother David. He attended Parkrose High School and spent most of his life living and working in the Pacific Northwest.

Mark had four children, Mark Jr., Adam, Megan, and Andrew and in his later years experienced the joy of mentoring their brother Isaac as he grew up. More recently he reveled in his role as father-in-law to Cassandra and grandfather to his grandsons Andrew and Owen.

Mark loved the thrill of life. From a young age he took to riding motorcycles, competing in, and winning tournaments. He nurtured this love his whole life and often spent time down at the dunes with family and friends. Mark also loved learning new things and taking on new challenges – whether that was a puzzle, a political theory, or learning a new job at the dock – he wanted to explore it all. He loved camping and hiking and sitting around a fire with loved ones telling stories and discussing the news of the day.

After years in truck and heavy equipment appraising, Mark became a longshoreman in the early 2000s. He loved the work and being part of his ILWU Local 8 union family.

Mark was often relied upon by friends and family to lend and ear or a word of advice, providing a place of stability for many of those in his life. He will be missed by his mother and siblings, his children and grandchildren, and extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held June 10th, 2022 at 12pm at Holman’s Funeral Service in Portland, Oregon.
