Franklin Leonard "Frank" Goodman

August 30, 1937 - July 1, 2021

A short tribute spanning 3/4’s of a century.

Please take a few minutes, read thru this to honor Frank Goodman’s….. Full and Unique Life…….

———————————

Frank came over for a visit a few days ago (as is typical – he came by once or twice a week, for decades).

As always, he was happy, upbeat…telling stories about everything…..Living life….Loving life….Savoring the world…..and every detail in it.

Frank was always out in the fabric of the city.  A part of that fabric.  Active — every day…rain, snow or shine.     More ‘Life’s Experiences’ than most could imagine.     His social circles were uncountable.

—————————-

Listen to the comments of four,  who knew him:

 — A friend of mine, Nick,  once said,

‘Frank should have been in the Marines.  They like people like him; tough as nails, survives everything, and always comes out smiling.’

 — Neighbor of 25 years, Brian had this to say:

No surprise, it was a great writeup with some wonderful insights of the man, and the path he carved out.  You are right, Frank loved the world.

I always enjoyed talking with Frank. He always had animated insight on any number of particular subjects that were always worth listening to.     I always walked away with some morsel of knowledge, or some bit of advice.

He seemed like a…Good man. (That just came out naturally I assure you).  He was fortunate to have YOU as his little brother.

Let’s raise a glass to his spirit this weekend. All the best, my friend.

 — His Apt manager called us to give us the news.

He said 3 or 4 times — “I loved Frank! — I was always looking in on him…asking if there’s anything he needs – helping him up the steps…”   I just talked to Frank just the day prior, and Frank was typically upbeat and happy.”  (Notice a recurring theme here?)

 — Our cousin Gary, owns an Aquarium Shop in the Hollywood district:

“Sorry to hear… l just saw him a week ago at my aquarium shop.  You know he stopped by here from time to time.  He was his usual self, enjoying my fish and parrots.  And told me a couple jokes and other stories.   My dad Henry died 16 years ago today. I will light 2 candles tonight.”

Unusually:

His name was also his character trait.

 He  WAS…….

 a   Frank,   Good   Man.

The Medical Examiner listed it as ‘Natural Causes.’

No formal services are planned.

But light a candle.  Say a prayer.  Remember him well.

What a life he lived!

Rest in Peace – Franklin Leonard Goodman
