Cord Alan Martinez, 55 years old, passed away, in his sleep, unexpectedly, March 9, 2022 at his home residence in Portland Oregon. Cord was born June 24th, 1966 in Greeley, Colorado, the son of Gilbert R. and Guadalupe (Granado) Martinez.
Cord graduated from Ontario Oregon High School, Class of 1985. From an early age, Cord worked, managed, and even owned his own pizza restaurant. Cord was passionate and excelled in every business he worked in. He especially had a love for community. Even as a young boy, Cord was always eager to introduce himself to others, make conversation, and create a connection with people. Cord eventually moved to the Portland area, where he primarily worked as a manager and in sales in the food service industry. Some of the places Cord worked at were; Greek Cusina, ChefStable, Salvador Molly’s, and Vibrant table. He thrived in the fast paced, high demand world of catering for large events. Cord excelled at this. He knew how to create an amazing event for people, down to the smallest detail. Cord had a love for family, friends, and food. He was creative, witty, and had a great sense of humor. Cord was a hard worker with high standards, and yet, he was also very generous and made a difference in so many people’s lives. In his last few years he loved to spend time with Annabelle. He was a dear friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Cord was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his partner, Donny Wilson, Donny’s daughter, Krys Baker, Donny’s granddaughter, Annabelle and niece Amber Holder. In addition, Cord is survived by his sister, Gilda Lewis, and his four brothers, Gilbert Martinez, Mark Martinez, Tony Mascorro, and Raven Briseno: stepfather Everett Blackburn, aunts, uncle, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held to honor and remember Cord Martinez on April 3rd from 2pm to 5pm at The Evergreen, 618 SE Alder Street, Portland, Oregon 97214.
