Chris Anthony Tsefalas

June 18, 1959 - February 27, 2023

Chris Anthony Tsefalas was born to Chris T. and Christina Tsefalas in Portland June 18, 1959. He grew up in Southeast Portland a graduate of Duniway Elementary and Cleveland High Schools, where he played basketball and excelled especially in baseball. Music held a central focus in his life from childhood.

His talent for songwriting and singing vaulted him to regional radio fame at age 14 with broadcast hit records. As he attended Portland State University classes, the music career beckoned, resulting in the albums “I’m all Right?,” “Follow the Sun” and “Wishing Well.” With his unique aesthetic and lush production work he was fortunate enough to collaborate with renown rock and pop musicians. Another calling, boxing as a welterweight, took him across the country in a professional career of many years. Locally, Chris was known also as a skilled craftsman and designer for residential renovations. He always cared greatly for animals and when he was healthy he owned and loved his German Shepherds. While music took hold of his heart early, it was displaced when his cherished daughters were born. He delighted in them and, more recently, a granddaughter. Chris continued to record new works even in the weeks and days before succumbing to a lingering illness.

He was predeceased by his father in 2020 and is survived by his mother; his sister, Katherine Tsefalas; his daughters, Bella, Olivia and Alexis Tsefalas; his granddaughter, Aaliyah McPhearson; and by his aunt, Jade Tsefalas.
