Alice Dawn (Kasch) Magel was born on June 25th, 1930 in Dallas, Oregon. She passed away peacefully on October 20, 2020 in Portland, Oregon.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Magel and her parents, Fred and Myrtle Kasch.
She is survived by her children, Glenda Lesher, Jeff Magel and Joni and James Dykeman, her grandchildren, Matthew and Mandy Lesher, Justin and Amanda Lesher, Joy and Aaron Paschall, Brittany and Derreck Nassar, Nick and Morgan Jones, Michael and Nicole Lesher, Allison Jones and Michael Reddy and her great-grandchildren, Netty Lesher, Wondi Lesher, Fiona Lesher, Miles Lesher, Ava Nassar, Lola Nassar and Eva Lesher.
Alice grew up on a farm outside of Portland, Oregon. She had a very happy childhood, except for the mean tricks her brothers played on her. Alice’s mother died when Alice was 15 so she went to live with one of her older sisters. Alice supported herself by working as a soda jerk in an ice cream shop.
Alice met Dan Magel when she was 18 and they were married shortly after. They were married until Dan passed away in 2009 a marriage that lasted 57 years.
Alice was an active member of the Apostolic Faith Church where she was a regular part of the church’s cleaning crew. In addition to faithfully cleaning the church for many years, she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and was honored to serve, with her husband, Dan, as the leaders of the beginner’s department.
Alice is warmly remembered by all who knew her for her open heart and generous hospitality…and her chocolate pies!
A private service will be held at the Apostolic Faith Church.
