Sam A. Gilman, age 96, passed away on March 4, 2018 at Baptist Beaches in Jacksonville. He was born May 22, 1921 in Toronto, Canada. Sam served in the United States Air Force for 26 years. He fought in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. While serving in Germany during WWII his plane was shot down. He was behind enemy lines for three months before escaping. Sam was also a member of the Elks Lodge, Freemasonry, and the Shiners. Sam will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and having a heart of gold.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bella Teitzman; and his brother, Sol Gilman. Survivors include his daughter, Faith Gilman Diaz; son, Barry (Monica) Gilman; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
