Kathyleen “Kathy” Orazio née Green died peacefully in her home on Saturday June 23rd 2018 in Portland, OR at the age of 68 after an 18 month battle with cancer.
Kathy is survived by her children, Andrea Sato and Lisa Wallstrum (Dave); siblings, Jerry Green (Linda) of Gresham, OR and David Green (Amy) of West Linn, OR; grandchildren Michelle Adamski (Brian), Megan, Shelby, Alyssa, and Sydney Wallstrum, and Natalie and Tommy Sato as well as many close friends and relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas & Patricia Green and sister Janice Green; all of Portland, OR.
Kathy was born on November 4th 1949 in Portland, OR to Thomas and Patricia Green. She graduated from Marycrest High School in 1967, soon after meeting and marrying David Orazio in 1968. She began her work career with OECO as a Switchboard Operator. They welcomed their first child Andrea in September of 1968 and a second daughter Lisa in July of 1971. Her children remember her as a caring and involved mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She was a homemaker until her divorce in 1979; afterwards she worked several jobs, eventually joining her brother Jerry in his company (JDJ services) in the 1990’s where she ultimately became part owner until her retirement in 2016.
Kathy was an accomplished decorator who created a loving home for her children and eventually grandchildren. She was a thoughtful, independent, accepting individual who loved her family while also passionate about world events and championing the less fortunate. She owned a beach house in Lincoln City for many years and loved spending time with family while enjoying the coast, and the occasional trip to Chinook Winds Casino. The consummate organizer and planner, Kathy greatly enjoyed planning events for family; these eventually always involved spirited UNO games, which she usually won.
A funeral is scheduled for Friday June 29th at 10:00 am at Holman’s Funeral Home with a reception to follow. A visitation will take place on Thursday June 28th at Holman’s from 2:00-4:30 pm.
