Goodbye Colorful “Jo”
“Jo” passed away peacefully at her home in Portland Oregon with her beloved cats Jake, Hymie, and Benny at her side.
Jo lived a colorful life with many friends in the entertainment industry including; Brenda Lee and Elvis Presley and Famous Las Vegas Showgirls. They appreciated her lively spirit.
Jo was never afraid to be “Jo”. And her love for people, all people, was unconditional.
Proudly ranked SGT and honorably discharged from the U. S. Army. She was most grateful for the experience, saying ” it gave me the world and everything I have”.
Since the 1960’s Jo was an advocate for the LGBTQ community. Her courage, honesty and willingness to stand tall has left a legacy of acceptance, tolerance and love across the world.
Joanne, loving daughter of Lillian Goldman (Sam) and Irving Stahl, all of blessed memory.
She is survived by her Dear sister Marilyn St. Germain ( Gerald), beloved Niece Stefani Turken (David Pfendler) beloved nephew Eric Turken (Bonnie ), sisters Alison Stahl, Robin Stahl Schwartz ( of blessed memory) Susan Stephens (Tim) niece June Tracey(Evan) and great nephew (Levi) niece Sarah Stephens, special in-laws Jane and Steven Schwartz, beloved nephews Brian Schwartz and Evan Schwartz, extraordinary neighbors, friends and caregivers.
Jo will be truly missed.
