Hans L Biglajzer, who greeted everyone with a smile, a story or joke on the tip of his tongue has sadly passed away. Hans was born in Bad Honnef, Germany and immigrated to the US after the World War Two. He started making saddles in downtown Manhattan, New York and later moved to North Carolina where he met and married his wife Doris of fifty four years. In 1962 they moved to Portland where he started his own English saddle business. He perfected his trade until he retired at the age of eighty seven. He is survived by his daughter Julia and two grandsons.
Hans and Doris enjoyed being in the great outdoors, hiking all over the state of Oregon and traveling throughout the US and Canada. They especially enjoyed going to the beach and taking drives up to Hood River through the Columbia River Gorge for apples and pears every fall. Because of their love for the forests and parks, we request in lieu of flowers or plants that you plant a tree in memory of Hans in Israel thru the Jewish National Fund or for the replanting in the Columbia River Gorge.
The family greatly appreciates the outpouring of support from all who knew Hans. Services will be held in Bend at Deschutes Memorial Cemetery on September 26 at 2PM.
