Gloria Angelina Gemma died January 4, 2018 at the age of 97.

 

Born June 10, 1920 to Antonio and Emilia Cotonzariti, Gloria grew up in Southeast Portland, attending Grout Grade School and Commerce High School, where she met and then married Armand L. Gemma who preceded her in death.  Devoted wife of 68 years and loving mother of two sons, Daniel A. Gemma and David L. Gemma, and grandmother to Patrick Gemma, Kenneth Gemma, Hattie Gemma Schrotzberger and Colby Gemma.  She was also great grandmother to six and matriarch to an extended family throughout the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, Canada.  She is survived by her sons, her sisters Rose Moore Schlecter and Doris Johnson, and her brother Bruni (Babe) Cotonzariti.

 

The family wishes to express its extreme thanks and appreciation for the loving care she received from the staff of Senior Haven Residential Care facility where she lived out her final days in peace. Arrangements are being coordinated by Holman’s Funeral Service.  A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 10 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church prior to interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to Providence Hospice or the charity of your choice.
