Carole Valborg Breese of Portland passed away on April 9, 2018. She was 81 years old. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald G Breese, son Steve Breese and daughter Becky Johnson (Michael). Three grandchildren Jeremy Breese, Beau and Paris Johnson.
Carole was born in Walla Walla, WA to Bob and Othelia McMullen November 15, 1936. The family returned shortly back to Portland. She attended Kellogg School and Franklin High School (1954). She married the love of her life in 1956. Don and Carole owned and operated several A & W’s in the metro area.
Her passion for gourmet cooking was infectious and the benefits enjoyed by many. Dedicated, passionate and self-taught, Carole made treks to cooking schools in Berkeley, CA to New Orleans, LA and locally – Gearhart, OR with James Beard.
She loved splitting her time between Portland and Seaside where they had a second home. Summers were spent clam digging and salmon fishing. A Francophile at heart – Carole and Don traveled to France twice.
Carole will always be loved and endeared as the best wife, mother, daughter and friend. A true lady. A class act. Afflicted with Parkinson’s …. She never complained. Never. This quiet, petite lady is one of the most extraordinary, strongest person one was blessed to know.
